OVERVIEW

Ulster University, also known as a multi-disciplinary polytechnic university in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, is the largest university in Northern Ireland. Having a rich history, its predecessor is New University of Ulster, established in 1968.

 

Currently, Ulster University has 4 main campuses located in Belfast, Coleraine, Jordanstown and Magee with more than 27,000 students from 100 countries around the world. Additionally, two further branch campuses in both London and Birmingham also deliver courses.

 

Ulster University’s strength focuses on certain disciplines such as Accounting, Finance, Economics, Architecture, Communication, etc. According to the 2016/2017 DHLE Survey, Ulster University is one of the top universities with 94% of graduates being in work or further study six months after graduation.

 

LOCATIONS

The university’s main campus, located in the centre of Belfast city, has received a total investment up to 250 million pounds. It is one of the largest-ever campuses in Europe. Being famous for the arts, Belfast is also the venue for festivals, annual fashion shows such as the Festival of Art and Design, making it an attractive destination for students who love culture and art.

 

Jordanstown campus is situated in the North of Belfast and suitable for students who living in the city, going to school by car or public transport system such as bus or taxi; Coleraine, located next to the town of River Bann, is the most vibrant and largest town in the Causeway Coast in Northern Ireland. This campus is the perfect destination for those attracted by the excitement; Just a short walk from the city along River Foyle, Magee campus comprises a mixture of traditional buildings and modern facilities.

 

Besides, two other campuses of Ulster are ideally located in the major cities London and Birmingham. London campus is in Holborn, which is the world’s business and financial centre and just a 20-minute walk from the Oxford and Regent Street shopping centre. Specially, London campus is very close to famous tourist attractions such as Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square, Hyde Pard, Buckingham Palace. Meanwhile, Birmingham campus situates in the city centre, near The Bullering Shopping Centre and Jewelery Quarter. Both campuses are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, providing students with the best opportunities to study and research.

ACCOMMODATION 

Accommodation is guaranteed for international students at the campuses Coleraine, Magee and Jordanstown with a wide range of private housing and convenient transportation connected to Belfast campus. In addition, Ulster University also provide students with free counselling in finding a house instead of the dormitory.

 

SUPPORT FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Students are fully supported throughout their studies at Ulster University, including services such as private counselling, financial counselling, helping students with disabilities, providing religious services and a centre dedicated to foreign students support.

 

Career Development Center (CDC) established by Ulster University at each teaching institution aims to assist students finding jobs by guiding, editing CVs, cover letters, practicing sample interviews. There are many clubs ranged from sports, culture to business, volunteering, community,… that students can register to build up comprehensive development and impetus conditions for their future. 

 

One week before starting the study term, Ulster also holds a welcome event at the airport to enthusiastically pick up new students, and then introduce them to the school staff and international friends. The University also offers English tutoring classes at all campuses.

 

ACADEMIC TRAINING COURSES

Ulster University delivers a wide range of courses from business, technology-engineering, cultural arts to healthcare.

 

The Ulster University Business School (UUBS) offers undergraduate and graduate programs on its campuses, especially in London and Birmingham. The school establishes partnerships with Harvard Business School and Babson College in Boston.

 

For Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines; Ulster has achieved many great achievements such as:

The Schools of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment of Ulster University are divided into four faculties which are individually recognized for the teaching and training expertise. Focusing on developing practicality, Ulster has always been an important partner of large corporations. While studying at Ulster, students are encouraged to participate in 1-year internships, opening great opportunities to improve their skills and familiarize themselves with the workplace environment.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND TUITION FEES 

1. Bachelor 

  • Starting: Based on chosen discipline

  • Qualifications: 

    • High school graduated

    • GPA 7.0 or above, GPA of Math from 7.5

  • English level: IELTS 6.0 (No component score below 5.5)

  • Average tuition fee: £14.480/year

2. Master 

  • Starting: Based on chosen discipline

  • Qualifications: University graduated

  • English level: IELTS 6.0 (No component score below 5.5)

  • Average tuition fee: £14.480/ year

SCHOLARSHIPS 

  • University Funded Scholarship: worth £2,000, awarded to all undergraduate and graduate international students.

  • Barnett Pharmaceutical Sciences Scholarship: for students registered Master of Pharmaceutical Science program. It covers the total tuition fee, the remainder will be paid directly to students to support their living expenses.

  • Excellent international students enrolled on the campuses London and Birmingham can receive scholarships up to 30% of the total tuition fee.
