Northumbria University is one of the UK's Top 50 Universities with many outstanding achievements. The main campus is located in the heart of Newcastle, one of the best cities for students in the UK.

 

OVERVIEW

Having a rich history, Northumbria has its origins in the Rutherford College, founded in 1880. Currently, the university prides itself on being one of the top ten universities in the UK for the number of graduates entering professional employment after 6 months of graduation. At the same time, Northumbria University also ranked 21 out of 111 universities in the 2014 Times Higher Education Student Satisfaction Survey.

 

Northumbria works with major employers, including Nike, IBM, Nissan, Proctor & Gamble, the BBC, and the NHS. Innovative and entrepreneurial, the university is also ranked fourth in the UK for graduate business start-ups. Strong and sustained achievements have helped Northumbria be at the top of modern universities.

 

Besides the campus in Newcastle, Northumbria also has others in London and Amsterdam, working in partnership with other leading higher education institutions across the world to deliver the highest quality of teaching and learning, attracting about 26,000 students from over 140 countries.

 

CAMPUSES

Northumbria is headquartered in Newcastle, located in the northeast of England, about 4 hours by train from London. This city was voted the best one for students thanks to the unique mix of the UK’s modernity and ancient features, the gathering of large shopping centres, bustling entertainment facilities as well as galleries and museums, etc. Northumbria also opened a campus in London which is known as the financial and business centre of the UK, an attractive destination for graduates.

SUPPORTS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Northumbria offers a variety of free counselling and support services for students in terms of learning, improving language for international students, looking for internships, editing CV and cover letter, etc. In addition, the university also organizes “Meet and Greet” event at the beginning of the school year to welcome and pick up students from Newcastle International Airport to the campus. Upon arrival, students will be guided and introduced to the university’s staff and other students.  

 

ACADEMIC TRAINING PROGRAMS

Northumbria’s programmes are rated silver in the Teaching Excellence Framework and its research is ranked in the top 50 in the UK according to the results of the last Research Excellence Framework. In 2019 Northumbria were the fastest climbing UK University in Times Higher Education's world rankings.

 

The university currently offers training in major disciplines such as Engineering, Computer, Science, Business, Law, Design, Agency, Environment, Arts, Social Sciences, Psychology, Sports, and Health. Northumbria is the only Business School in Europe to be awarded double accreditation in Business and Accounting by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

 

In London campus, Northumbria offers business courses such as Master of International Management, Master of Financial Management, Master of Marketing Management, Bachelor of Business Administration, as well as other preparatory and language learning programs.

  • English level: IELTS 5.0

  • Average tuition fee: £15.500/year​

2. Bachelor 

  • Starting: Based on discipline 

  • Qualifications: High school graduated

  • English level: 

    • IELTS 6.0 (or TOEFL 550 – 575) 

    • For Business: IELTS 6.0 (No component score below 5.5)

  • Average tuition fee: £15.500/year​

3. Pre-Masters (2 SEMs)

  • Starting: September

  • Qualifications: University graduated in a related major

  • English level: IELTS 5.5

  • Average tuition fee: £6.750/year

4. Master 

  • Starting: Based on discipline 

  • Qualifications: University graduated

  • English level: IELTS 6.5 (No component score below 6.0)

  • Average tuition fee: £15.500/year

SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Aviva Scholarship Programme: 20% discount on tuition fees is available to outstanding students in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam, providing that you or your parents are a customer of Aviva.

  • International Academic Scholarship Program: international students enrolled in a full-time course will be eligible for 30% discount on tuition fees for the first year of study or more depending on their academic achievement.
